Salamanca: A City of Heritage and Faith
Your journey through Spain begins in Salamanca, a city known for its rich intellectual and religious history. Founded in 1218, Salamanca University is one of the oldest in the world and a symbol of Spain’s Golden Age. We will visit the magnificent Plaza Mayor, the spiritual heart of the city, as well as the Old Cathedral, an awe-inspiring example of Romanesque and Gothic architecture. Celebrate Holy Mass in one of the city’s revered churches and enjoy a walk through its historic streets, which have earned it a place on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
Burgos: The Gothic Marvel
Next, explore the medieval city of Burgos, the former capital of Castile and León. The city’s crown jewel is the Burgos Cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Inside, marvel at its stunning spires, chapels, and the tomb of El Cid, Spain’s legendary national hero. The cathedral’s grandeur reflects centuries of devotion and artistry, making it one of Spain’s most important religious monuments. We will also visit the Monastery of Santa María la Real de las Huelgas, a symbol of royal and religious power, before continuing our spiritual journey.
Garabandal: A Place of Apparitions
In the small, peaceful village of San Sebastián de Garabandal, four children experienced a series of Marian apparitions between 1961 and 1965. These messages from the Virgin Mary have inspired devotion and pilgrimage ever since. Here, we will visit the site where the apparitions occurred, pray, and reflect on the messages of Our Lady. The simple beauty and serenity of Garabandal make it a profound stop on our pilgrimage, allowing us to connect deeply with the messages of faith and hope.
Loyola: In the Footsteps of St. Ignatius
The pilgrimage continues to Loyola, the birthplace of St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Jesuits. Visit the Sanctuary of Loyola, built around the family home of St. Ignatius, where we will celebrate Mass and reflect on the life of one of the Catholic Church’s most influential saints. Loyola offers a unique opportunity to explore Ignatian spirituality and deepen your understanding of his teachings on prayer and devotion.
